About the Event
Earl discovered his talent and interest in music at the tender age of seven. He crafted his own guitar by using a cigar box, broomstick, and fishing cord, This marked the beginning of Earl’s musical career.
By the time he reached the age of nine, Earl became a regular fixture on the porch of Mr. Henry “Gip” Gibson, which later became a well-known backyard juke joint in Bessemer AL. He considers his time spent at Mr. Gip’s place as where he “got his start.” Earl further honed his skills and began playing guitar with bands in and around the Birmingham area.
Earl has done extensive travel around the “Chitlin Circuit” and played with various blues artists. He played multiple years with the blues artist Benny Latimore. In the year 2014, Earl was inducted in the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame as a Master Blues Artist.
He is an established business owner and hair stylist by day, and a musician whenever the calling presents itself. Earl is the real deal!!
